Fashion. Beauty. Entertainment. Pop Culture. Deeply Engaging.

Jobs at Zimbio

We’re a fast-moving, well-funded, profitable internet company that is pushing the boundaries in the way content publishing and technology converge. Yet our business is simple: We blend original, in-house, licensed and freelanced content with the highest quality photography on the market to deliver an overall informative and entertaining experience. And we do so on a massive scale, with two comScore top ten consumer sites: Zimbio.com is the #5 site in Entertainment News and StyleBistro.com is #7 in Beauty/Fashion/Style.

Our office is a casual place where good ideas and strong opinions are pretty much mandatory. We encourage everyone to brainstorm and share any and all new ideas with each other. There are no cultural walls: the engineering team collaborates with the marketing team who collaborates with the editorial team and so on. And we’re all obsessively tuned-in to pop culture and fashion.

We’re located in San Carlos, Calif. and New York City.

We offer competitive base salaries, health/dental/vision benefits, and stock options.

Job Openings

Associate Editor – StyleBistro – Manhattan

About the job:

With a wide, sweeping range of duties, the Associate Editor is a crucial member of our editorial team. Though each of our editors have slightly different sets of responsibilities, this particular position requires a great deal of short form writing—mostly focusing on fashion, news, and celebrity style—as well as the creation of photo specials, games, some larger in-depth features from time to time, and general site maintenance.

About you:

You’re a blogger, writer, editor, social media and Internet junkie whose thirst for fashion and celebrity style news is seemingly unquenchable. You can easily identify celebrities, designers, models, and fashion industry folks in photos and rattle off what others may think is useless information (their last project, who they’re dating, the labels they’re wearing, etc.). You don’t mind tackling large projects while you already have a few small ones on your plate. You never miss an award show (the red carpet arrivals is your favorite part). You think it’s great to work hard and play hard and you live by the motto. When friends describe you, great sense of humor and extremely intelligent are usually phrases that come up first. You have a college degree and are passionate about working on the Internet.

Interested candidates should APPLY NOW emailing to jobs@zimbio.com a brief cover letter, resume, links to published clips if you have them and answers to the questions below.

1. Whats are the three most compelling fashion-related things you’ve seen online in the last month and why? Send links.

2. Which celebrity’s style do you most admire and why?

3. Tell us an interesting story or anecdote about or related to fashion.

About us:

We’re a fast-moving, well-funded start-up company that publishes two top-rated sites on the Internet: Zimbio.com (ranked #5 in entertainment news by comScore) and StyleBistro.com (#7 in fashion). Our business is simple: We blend original, in-house, licensed and freelanced content to form an overall informative and entertaining experience for the reader. Our New York office is a casual place where good ideas and strong opinions are pretty much mandatory.

Beauty Editor – StyleBistro – Manhattan

About the job:

The Beauty Editor will own the Beauty Section on StyleBistro.com. This entails making and supervising the production of news posts, feature stories, games, lookbooks, polls, custom photo slideshows, and, in general, overseeing the quality of content in the section. This is a content creation job with a heavy emphasis on writing. It’s a new position we’re creating that will focus on hair, nails, and beauty, but will also branch out to other elements of style and fashion. As one of the more senior editors on staff, this job requires a steady stream of ideas for compelling, engaging, and original hair and beauty content.

About you:

You’re a blogger, writer, editor and Internet junkie obsessed with all things hair and beauty. One might say you are an expert in the category. You have 3-5 years experience, loads of fabulous writing clips, can easily rattle off the best moisturizer for oily skin and the latest celebrity hair trends. You’re a fountain of great ideas and can easily communicate and execute them with a close-knit creative team. You think it’s great to work hard and play hard and you live by the motto. When friends describe you, great sense of humor and extremely intelligent are usually phrases that come up first. You have a college degree and are passionate about working on the Internet.

Interested candidates should APPLY NOW by emailing the following to jobs@zimbio.com: a brief cover letter, resume, links to three published clips and answers to the three questions below.

1. What are the three most compelling beauty-related things you’ve seen online in the last month and why? Send links.

Executive Editor of Livingly.com

Zimbio, Inc., publisher of two top 10 comScore sites, is looking for an Executive Editor to help launch and run all editorial aspects of its new home and design site, Livingly.com.

About us:
We’re a well-funded, innovation-driven Internet media company that has been pushing the boundaries where content publishing and Internet technology converge since 2006. Our editorial recipe is simple: Using a suite of high-powered proprietary web publishing tools, we blend original, in-house, licensed and freelanced content with the highest quality photography and video assets on the market. The ingredients form an overall informative and entertaining experience. This model has worked very well for Zimbio.com and StyleBistro.com, our entertainment and fashion sites, respectively. We have offices in the Silicon Valley as well as Manhattan. *Note: this position can be based out of either office.

About the job:
The Livingly.com Executive Editor will be responsible for all things editorial on the site. Some of these responsibilities include:

  • Hiring and managing editors, interns and freelancers
  • Representing the site at home & design events, speaking on panels and making on-air television / radio appearances
  • Analyzing market trends and translating them in creative, easily consumable ways to a massive audience
  • Writing articles, columns, captions or whatever is needed at any given time
  • Defining and maintaining the tone and voice of the site
  • Using analytical tools to track traffic patterns and adjusting content accordingly
  • Collaborating on and deploying a potent editorial strategy
  • Creating and maintaining an editorial calendar complete with large annual features and working with our marketing team to leverage their exposure

About you:
You’re a seasoned writer and editor who’s worked in the home / design / garden / architecture space in an editorial capacity for for at least 7 years. A portion of those years were spent managing editors. You love the old-school written word as much as dreaming up features for an engineering team to create. You know the industry and how to build a loyal readership using both traditional story-telling as well as web3.0 methods, and you’re passionate about both. You have industry contacts and can manage a bi-costal team of editors you’ve recruited. You have a deep, sometimes philosophical appreciation for how the print and web experiences are evolving. Technically speaking, you understand how to communicate with a development team and aren’t intimidated by a robust CMS or sinking your teeth into some analytical tools to measure your success.

If you meet this criteria, we very much want to meet you. Drop us a line at editor.jobs@zimbio.com and include a cover letter of introduction, your resume and some clips that best exemplifies your work.
