Zimbio Fashion Diaries – Part 1

Working at a company that is focused on celebrity entertainment news, fashion and beauty can seem a little at odds with the Silicon Valley culture. So, do we march around in heels? Or keep comfy and code in hoodies? The honest answer is both. Some of us are a little more excited about shoes while for others, it’s about yo-yo’s and BBQ. Regardless though, each of us has a personal style. Here’s the first in a series of posts of what a typical day at Zimbio HQ looks like:

Jill Slattery – Senior Associate Editor – Zimbio

What Would You Say Your Style Is?

I love bold colors and clean, simple lines.

Tell Us What You Are Wearing:

Seven Jeans that I tried on at Macy’s and then bought on eBay. Yes, I am that girl. A J Crew button down shirt, patent leather wedges, and a turquoise necklace from Ann Taylor.

What Look Do You Go For?

I’d say with work clothes I go for a more classic look. It’s easiest in the mornings, tends to suit most situations if I end up at an event in the evening, and hopefully it draws attention away from my goofy sense of humor!

Lauren Gerber – Associate Marketing Manager

Tell Us What You Are Wearing:

The skirt is a random DKNY piece my 5’1 mom gave me. It went down to her ankles – I like to wear it at my waist with a belt like this suede one by Kristin Kahle. The oxford shoes are Dolce Vita, and the shirt is standard American Apparel. It goes down to my thighs! But hopefully you can’t tell.

What’s Your Style?

A little downtown NYC, a little flower child, and I can never turn down sparkle or girly details. I’m not into looking perfectly buttoned up or put-together; I’d rather embrace imperfections.

Tell Us What You Are Wearing:

I am wearing a vintage skycaster blue T-shirt by Dolce & Gabbana paired with gunmetal neu denim trousers by Marc Jacobs accented by James Dean inspired rolled cuffs. My shoes are Manolo Blahnik yacht club chic.

But really – blue T-shirt, grey pants from H&M, and brown slip-ons. I wish I was more fashionable, but alas, I am not. It’s all about comfort.

Alicia Dennis – Music Editor

Tell Us What You Are Wearing:

Today I’m wearing an old mod dress I picked up at a department store sale when I was in college and a pair of Miu Mius my mom bought me in Italy about 7 years ago. They were my first pair of glitter shoes, and remain my favorites—I even wore them to graduation. I lost one of the rhinestones on the left toe at a dance party and the glitter’s starting to wear off, but I appreciate how well-loved they look.

What Would You Say Your Style Is?

I have trouble defining my style without using words like “eclectic” since so many of my favorite items are vintage pieces passed down to me by my personal style icon, my mother. She’s traveled all over the world and has developed a keen eye for one-of-a-kind pieces of great quality (like the shoes). Sometimes her choices are so wild I wonder if I can actually pull them off, but it actually makes getting dressed a lot of fun—I’ll pick a piece and try to create an ensemble around it.

Cleve Pasarell – Director of Engineering

Tell Us What You Are Wearing:

  • JCrew cashmere vneck sweater
  • Blue patagonia tshirt
  • Wrangler Cowboy cut jeans
  • Dunham Weston Oxford shoes

Describe Your Sense of Style:

  • Comfort and practicality. I won’t wear something that’s not comfortable, but I walk 30 minutes every day on my commute, so I need stuff that holds up to the harsh winter elements of San Carlos, CA.

What Clothing Item Are You On the Hunt For?

  • A socially acceptable snuggie.
